SAF-T-SWIM-LESSONS FOR LIFE
From Infants to Seniors, It's Water Safety and Fun Year-round!

Saf-T-Swim, New York's #1 Swim School, offers year-round swimming and water safety programs for all ages-from infants to seniors.
Committed to promoting water safety and fun, Jim Hazen, president and founder grew his business from five employees and one location, to 300 employees and seven locations and is justifiably proud of this accomplishment. "To think of the thousands and thousands of students we've instructed and helped is very rewarding, I know -though there's no way to quantify it- Saf-T-Swim has prevented many drownings and water accidents over these many years."
Saf-T-Swim's course catalog lists many programs that focus on kids-infants through high school, from basic instruction to advanced.
Healthy Habits that Last a Lifetime
Water safety can never start too soon, unlike other athletic activities, the ability to swim confidently and correctly, saves lives.
The American Academy of Pediatrics states aquatic programs are very popular among parents and kids and are a good way to teach your kids to enjoy being in the water.
Youngsters involved in aquatic sports benefit physically, socially and mentally.
Lung capacity, stamina, body strength and physique are greatly improved. Class members learn to support and encourage each other, make friendships and build confidence. Critical judgment improves as your child learns safe practices and behavior; in short, Saf-T-Swim teaches kids how to "think" around water. Parents! Make water safety your number one priority!
Fitness and Fun for Seniors and Parents
Parents should realize if they show undue anxiety or nervousness around water, it's likely their children will develop the same negative attitude. Parents who are unsure and fear the water are well advised to take swimming lessons, and to learn the basics of water safety. If a parent shows confidence, their children will naturally pick-up on it.
Saf-T-Swim's Hydro-Aerobics class is for adults unable to exercise in a conventional manner. Arthritis, osteoporosis, joint and back problems restrict regular movement and make conventional exercise painful and for some, entirely out of the question. Hydro-Aerobics is suitable for all levels and is designed to increase cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength without over stressing the joints. The heated pool often provides welcome relief from stiffness and soreness, the exercise relieves stress and the entire experience might make you feel younger.
All pools are heated to a comfortable 90 degrees, making Saf-T-Swim a year-round activity.
During the months of winter, a regular visit to our heated pool is great way to drive away the winter blahs.

It takes only a few seconds to make a tragedy
Parents! Make water safety your number one priority!
According to combined sources, each year 1,200 children under the age of 14 drown, while another 5,000 are hospitalized. Up to 20 percent of those who are hospitalized never fully recover. Drowning is the second leading cause of accident-related death of children under age 15.
Of the 1200 victims, over three hundred are children under the age of four, most of whom drown in family pools with a supervising adult nearby. The terrible aftermath of the thousands of near drownings every year is seldom reported and largely unrecognized.
Neurological damage sustained after only a few minutes submersion is often catastrophic. The details of permanent disability, ruined lives and lifelong heartbreak are too sad to tell.
Most often, a childhood drowning is silent; there is no splashing, calling out or any other indication that the child is in trouble. Sadly, the great majority of these young victims are only out-of-sight for five minutes or less.
- The only way to prevent childhood drowning is to keep kids under complete supervision near the water.
- The next vital step; teach kids to swim at the earliest possible age and opportunity.
- Know how to swim and use basic rescue techniques including CPR and Artificial Respiration.
- Research indicates, nearly three-quarters of drowning victims did not know how to swim.
